When travelling abroad and trying to converse in the local language I find it quite uncomfortable and at times rude not being able converse with the locals. To overcome my shyness and build my confidence I have found it better to have a one to one conversation with someone in their language. This has sometimes proven difficult as you need someone who can make the time to converse with you, which isn’t readily available.
